Client: City of Mills
Project Completed: June 2022
Service: Fabrication, Welding Repair
In early 2022, Reeb Welding was hired by the City of Mills to repair significant damage to the Mills Eagle. Commissioned over a decade ago and installed in 2018, this 8,100 pound steel eagle welcomes residents and visitors through Wyoming Boulevard into the City of Mills. Soaring high above the busy thoroughfare, this installation cannot be missed. Because of its height, the eagle is prone to damage from changes in the weather and the Wyoming wind known to this part of the country. Over the years, the Mills Eagle sustained significant damage to many of the feathers and the integrity of the installation itself.
To complete repairs on the Mills Eagle, Reeb Welding worked with High Country Crane Service and U – Know Services, LLC to safely lower the eagle from its perch and transport it to the Reeb Welding shop. There, our team reinforced, reconnected, and rewelded all pieces of the eagle to ensure its longevity and ability to withstand the Wyoming elements for years to come. A final inspection of the eagle in its entirety was performed before being sent back to the City of Mills.
The eagle is flying high again thanks to the collaboration with High Country Crane Service and U – Know Services, LLC and can be seen up close at the Flying Freedom Eagle Park on Wyoming Boulevard in Mills.
Reeb Welding has been proud to support the City of Mills, having opportunities in the past to rebuild a dunk tank and trophies used during the Mills Summerfest events. We love to create in and support the community around us and are pleased with the final results of the Mills Eagle rehabilitation project.
